NASA Research Park, Moffett Field, CA – 17th December 2013 – Machine-to-Machine Intelligence (M2Mi) Corporation today announced advanced privacy capability and alignment with the NIST Cyber Security framework for enterprise M2M and Internet of Things solutions. With a focus on critical infrastructure protection and secure information exchange, the enhanced M2M Cyber Security product within the M2M Intelligence® platform enables enterprises to ensure security as well as multi-level privacy of their connected environment. The public release is available here.

The M2M and IoT ecosystem includes a diverse set of participants from end users, enterprises, telecom providers, cloud vendors to device manufacturers. This makes ensuring security and privacy of shared information a critical requirement. To address these issues, NIST recently released the Preliminary Cyber Security Framework based on feedback from more than 3,000 individuals and public-private organizations on standards, best practices and guidelines. The Preliminary Framework outlines a set of steps that can be customized to various sectors and adapted by both large and small organizations while providing a consistent approach to cyber security. The goal of the framework is to provide businesses, their suppliers, their customers and government agencies with guidelines for protecting critical information and IT infrastructure.

M2M Cyber Security includes patented secure Lockbox technology, which enables organizations to implement security and advanced privacy policies for fine-grained control of their M2M and IoT infrastructure and data flow. Lockbox technology ensures multiple levels of privacy by allowing participants to authenticate but remain anonymous, require separate keys so that creators and consumers of data can be completely segregated as well as optionally use encryption. Compared to many implementations that focus on either security or privacy, M2M Cyber Security makes it easy to define polices based on guidelines from the NIST Cyber Security framework, thus ensuring security as well as privacy of their M2M and IoT business.

“M2M and IoT environments connect not just consumer devices, but also IT and critical infrastructure such as power grids, telecom networks etc. Therefore, any disruption has significant implications for resilience, security and privacy and hence Cyber Security is the appropriate paradigm for M2M and IoT security. We are very pleased to align our platform with the NIST Cyber Security framework to ensure multiple levels of privacy for our customers, without compromising high levels of security” says Geoff Brown, CEO, Machine-to-Machine Intelligence (M2Mi) Corporation.

M2Mi provides the M2M Intelligence® platform, which includes M2M Automation and M2M Cyber Security, as the essential technology foundation for M2M and IoT offerings. By bundling global telecom bandwidth and data services with the M2M Intelligence® platform, M2Mi provides an integrated solution to enable enterprises to rapidly deploy revenue-generating M2M and IoT services.
